Sherlocks Coffee House – Whitby

It’s hard to separate fact from fiction in this tea room set up as a retreat for a famous Londoner to escape up north. The fact is their coffee and cakes are first class, so make yourself at home here anyway…

Fancy a Cuppa? Book CoverFancy a Cuppa?

Fancy a Cuppa? reviews 50 places across the UK for a good cup of tea or coffee and a nice piece of cake, a scone or other local delicacy. This is not a ’50 best’ tea rooms or cafes guide. Rather it includes places that have a story to tell.

Read the full description of this book on the books page and if you like what you see you can buy it from there too.

A fantastic display of cakes in the window. Yorkshire Cream Tea, with scone and clotted cream for less than £3.50.  Great coffee.  And a nice range of smoothies with names like Moriarty and Mrs Hudson.  Also a good selection of sandwiches, including nice vegetarian options (hummus + grated carrot; roast vegetables)
