The Novel Café – Lancaster

Fancy a cuppa in a laid back atmosphere? This book shop and tea room in Lancaster is one of those rare places that gets all its trade by word-of-mouth: they have no web presence or advertising…

The review of this tea room will appear in our book on tea and coffee in the UK’s cathedral towns and cities. The ebook is now available, with a shorter print version out this autumn. Here’s the link to all our books…

A cream tea with scone, butter, jam & cream and a generous pot of Lakeland tea for £3.40 (Feb 2012 prices).  This must be one of the best value venues we have visited for this book.  Cakes and scones are all ‘made locally’, but we didn’t find out by who.  Important thing is, it’s a nice cuppa tea (or coffee!) and you can while away the hours in a pleasant atmosphere…A massive contrast to our other Lancaster venue, but we loved them both for different reasons!
