Tea at Harriet's Tea Rooms in Bury St Edmunds
Description
You can see why lots of Americans drop into this tea room in Bury St Edmunds for a ‘truly English experience’. It all looks wonderfully Edwardian, but friendly and helpful as well.
The review of this tea room will appear in our book on tea and coffee in the UK’s cathedral towns and cities. The ebook is now available, with a shorter print version out this autumn. Here’s the link to all our books…
Our books

Menu
This is an excellent, strong loose-leaf brew. Teas are all Taylor’s of Harrogate. We chose the Special Blend (East Africa, Ceylon), but were tempted also by the Tea Room Blend (Assam, Kenya, Rwanda). There’s also Rare Assam, Darjeeling, Earl Grey Blue Lady, Lapsang & Russian Caravan, as well as green and fruit teas. If you want to book Afternoon Tea, it’s from 3pm Monday-Friday and after 2pm at weekends. You get a pot of tea (with extra water), sandwiches, a scone with clotted cream and jam, and a mixture of mini cakes. The scones were excellent, as was Harriet’s strawberry jam, so we’d go just for the cream tea if we were to visit again.
