Description

England’s first organic tea rooms were opened in this beautifully-restored 16th century house. That was in 1975 and they’re still serving great tea and cakes today. Top spot for afternoon tea in Chichester, but no cream tea here and they recently rebranded as a coffee shop, but still do great tea!

The review of this tea room/coffee shop will appear in our book on tea and coffee in the UK’s cathedral towns and cities. The ebook is now available, with a shorter print version out this autumn. Here’s the link to all our books…

Menu

Excellent loose-leaf tea on offer here (we chose Lapsang, but there’s Assam, Darjeeling, Earl Grey and a few others, too). Fantastic organic cakes. We had the ginger sponge, which was very distinctive, with a real zip to it. But you won’t get a cream tea here. Their food has no cream, no butter, it’s all additive and GM-free. There’s even no aluminium pots used and certainly no tinned food. It’s all top quality stuff. Oh, and we pushed the boat out a bit and tried their house speciality: welsh rarebit; comes with half grapes embedded in the cheese: delicious!
