Both the coffee and tea here are supplied by Taylor’s of Harrogate. We opted for a pot of tea – it’s tea bags, but with Taylor’s (or Yorkshire Tea), you usually get a good pot, and this was no exception. Nice touch to get a little jelly baby with your cup. The cakes and scones are all made in-house: there was shortbread, carrot cake, fruit loaf and a whole range of tray bakes. Her selection includes a good set of gluten-free options, too. By the time we got there though, the last scone had gone, so don’t leave your visit too late if you want a scone with your cuppa…

Getting there

Buses go to Ripon (50 minutes) and York (1 hour). Boroughbridge is just a mile from the Great North Road – the A1. By car, this is a great place to stop off if you’re on a long north-south run. This deli is right on Boroughbridge High Street.
