Camfields Espresso Bar – Saltburn-by-the-Sea

There’s surely no better spot for coffee in Saltburn right over the road from the beach. Housed in the old miniature railway ticket office, too!

The review of this coffee shop in Saltburn appears in our new book on tea and coffee in North Yorkshire. It’s out now, so buy a copy here…

The Illy Espresso on offer at Camfields is a cut above the coffee you can get anywhere else we found in Saltburn. Makes a smooth, rich cappuccino to sit and sip as you watch the waves roll in on the beach over the road. There’s nowhere to bake in this place, so you can’t expect cakes made in-house, but the scones and traybakes are made locally and went down very nicely, thank you.

Getting there

There are buses and trains to Saltburn from Middlsebrough, which is about 10 miles due west. Whitby is another ten miles down the coast. To get to the coffee shop, you need to walk down to beach level and you’ll find it just where the road straightens out to run along the beach.
