A great spot to sit and look out over the Yorkshire Dales while having a steaming cuppa and home-baked cake. This tea room in Reeth gets our vote for afternoon tea after a hard day’s hiking.
The review of this tea room in Reeth appears in our new book on coffee and tea in North Yorkshire. It’s out now and you can get hold of a copy here…
Visit our books page to see all our books in more detail. You will find a description of each book, Fancy a Cuppa?, Fancy a Cuppa, USA?, Fancy a Cuppa by the Cathedral?, Fancy a Cuppa? North Yorkshire, and then links to buy.
A steaming pot of Yorkshire Tea awaits when you sit down for tea in this lovely tea room right on Reeth’s green (bags only, but so much else here compensates for that!). The home baking is fabulous. Owner Mike is a dab hand at baking bread, tea cakes and scones. And there’s usually a cake or two on offer, also baked in-house of course. For our visit there was a delicious Wensleydale, apricot and apple cake.

12noon – 5.00pm Monday
12noon – 5.00pm Wednesday – Sunday
(but tend to open an hour earlier in winter – when fewer B&B guests to serve in the morning!)
Ignore the red arrow on the google map below; this does NOT mark the tea room itself. Ivy Cottage is on the east side of the big open space in the centre of Reeth green, very near the post office. There are buses to Reeth though they’re rather infrequent. By road it’s on the B6270 about 10 miles west of Richmond, heading into the upper Dales.
