Beautifully peaceful spot with excellent (Chinese) teas, set in the heart of Illawarra’s own Buddhist Temple complex. Great spot for a cuppa with a difference.
The review of this tea room in Berkeley, NSW is designed to fit in with our current tour of New South Wales outdoor swimming pools. There’s no book planned for now but a new website http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au. So for now take a look at our earlier books…
Visit our books page to see all our books in more detail. You will find a description of each book, Fancy a Cuppa?, Fancy a Cuppa, USA?, Fancy a Cuppa by the Cathedral?, Fancy a Cuppa North Yorkshire?, and then links to buy.
Delicious floral and Chinese teas served in beautiful glass tea pots, meaning you can watch your chrysanthemum or lotus flowers open out as you let the tea brew. We chose chrysanthemum tea, an old favourite of ours for warding off illness, though our neighbours were enjoying the cumquat tea, which lookd lovely too. If you really need a western-style black tea with milk, they’ll do it for you, but you’ll have to resort to tea bags from a major corporate brand so don’t go there; try something different and you may come to like it.
There is a western style cake on offer in case tea and cake is your choice, but I’d recommend the little packets of home-made almond biscuits for a great little nibble with your pot of tea.

If like me you’re coming here for a post swim cuppa after a visit to Berkeley Pool, it’s just a three minute drive from the pool up Berkeley Road, with the Temple entrance on your left as you come off the peak of the hill. If you’re arriving from the Princes Motorway, the best exit is Five islands Road and it’s just a couple of minutes drive away.
