Quirky art on the walls, cool white tiles on the bar and one of the best single origins I’d tasted in a long while. Surely the best coffee in Clovelly?
The review of this coffee shop in Clovelly is designed to fit in with our current tour of New South Wales outdoor swimming pools. There’s no book planned for now but a new website http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au. So for now take a look at our earlier books…
Visit our books page to see all our books in more detail. You will find a description of each book, Fancy a Cuppa?, Fancy a Cuppa, USA?, Fancy a Cuppa by the Cathedral?, Fancy a Cuppa North Yorkshire?, and then links to buy.
There’s something about a coffee shop that has so many options on its menu – you kind of know you’re in the right place when you have a range of single origins to choose from and they offer you all sorts of different ways to make your coffee – as we’re coming into summer in Australia, these guys even have a lengthy list of iced coffee drinks to tempt you. Well iced coffee doesn’t tempt me, but I’m sure some like it on a hot day this close to the beach. I opted for the single origin Burundi and was left with a big smile on my face because this was quite honestly the best coffee I had had for weeks – how do they produce such a smooth but rich flavour? Oh, and if you’re stuck for which coffee to choose, they have handy notes pinned to the espresso machine explaining the flavours and origins of all the beans you can see.
Half the coffees available seemed to come from Black Market Coffee Roasters in Botany. They might all have come from there, but some of the packaging had the Top Hat branding, so I wasn’t 100% sure.
The nibbles to go with the coffee also managed to wow me, managing somehow to come across as healthy but a real treat at the same time. Mine was one of those small energy-ball things with lemon and some trendy nut in it I hadn’t heard of before, but it was really excellent. What a great place for coffee in Clovelly.
