Morning Glory Café – northern end of Coogee Beach

Description

There’s a real neighbourhood feel to this café with great views over to Coogee Beach & the wonderful Giles Baths. They serve up excellent Allpress coffee with a smile & it’s full of locals.

The review of this coffee shop in Coogee, NSW, is designed to fit in with our current tour of New South Wales outdoor swimming pools. There’s no book planned for now but a new website http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au. So for now take a look at our earlier books…

Menu

I’m a big fan of Allpress Coffee so that was what drew me in to this coffee shop near Giles Baths in Coogee rather than the other nearby. I was very glad I did, because not only was the coffee excellent, but they do the rather good Chamellia loose leaf teas, and it’s all served up with a winning smile from the owner who knows her locals and regulars but also has time to connect with newbies and passers-by like me.

There’s a nice selection of banana breads (I actually chose the pear and raspberry bread) and there are gluten free options in the way of healthy looking muesli style bars. And then of course, there are the views from this place: you could almost put that on the menu, especially as you can choose between direct views over towards Giles Baths from the stools in the windows or the big mirror reflections of the whole of Coogee Beach if you sit in the middle of the café.

Getting there

Lots of the buses that end their journey in Coogee stop just a few metres from this café at the northern end of Coogee Beach. If you’re going for a post swim coffee, as I was, it’s an easy five minute walk through the park along the cliff top back to Beach Street, where Morning Glory sits two doors along from another café.
