Watsons Bay Tea Garden – Watsons Bay, NSW 2030

Good quality loose leaf tea with scones, jam and cream looking out over Sydney Harbour. This tea room in Watsons Bay ticks most of my boxes.

The review of this tea room in Watsons Bay NSW is designed to fit in with our current tour of New South Wales outdoor swimming pools and this tea garden café was great for a post swim tea after a dip in Watsons Bay Baths. There’s no book planned for now but a new website http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au. So for now take a look at our earlier books…

Crossing Paths, Crossing Borders

This 2016 publication recounts our journey from Yorkshire to Australia via 25 countries. It includes an annex with our 100 top tips for coffee or tea on the road, including this venue.

Read the full description of this book on the books page and if you like what you see you can buy it from there too..

It’s so rare to be able to get afternoon tea with views over Sydney Harbour, that I abandoned my usual coffee time for my post swim cuppa and went for the tea with scones, jam and cream. On a midweek morning, this tea room in Watsons Bay was quiet enough for me to choose one of the tables with unhindered views of the water and the baths, so you can watch the swimmers, the kayakers, the yachstmen or the ferries to your heart’s content while sipping on a good strong pot of loose leaf tea and some pretty decent scones. You wouldn’t get anything this reasonably priced up in Circular Quay!

I imagine it gets fairly busy at weekends and through holiday periods. They do do take away, if you’re in a rush, but who ever heard of a take away cream tea?.

Getting there

I arrived by bus from Bondi Beach, but it’s actually easier to get here by ferry from Circular Quay. The tea room is right across the road from the water, so down the hill from the little cluster of shops in Watsons Bay, which is why the ferry drops you off closer to the tea room than the bus.
