Simply the best coffee in Manly. I sometimes miss the old Italian coffee shops opposite the beach when manly was a quieter place, but not now I’ve found coffee at the standard of Barefoot Coffee Traders.
The review of this coffee shop in Manly NSW is designed to fit in with our current tour of New South Wales outdoor swimming pools and this coffee shop was great for a post swim coffee after a dip in the swimming enclosure at Manly Wharf aka Manly Cove. There’s no book planned for now but a new website http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au. So for now take a look at our earlier books…
This 2016 publication recounts our journey from Yorkshire to Australia via 25 countries. It includes an annex with our 100 top tips for coffee or tea on the road, including this venue.
No wonder Barefoot Coffee Traders appears in the NSW Speciality Coffee Guide that sits around this coffee shop a short hop from the Corso. They serve up one of the best coffees I have ever drunk in Sydney. They chose good roasters in Marvell Street from Byron Bay, but it take more than a good bean to make a fantastic coffee. My flat white was silky smooth, the perfect temperature and didn;t give me any of that caffeine excess I seem to experience with poorer quality coffees. I’ve drunk a lot of coffee in Manly over the years and this is the best by far.
Oh and if you fancy a nibble with your coffee do not miss out on the blueberry and coconut cake (or tart, really). Absolutely delicious and also so smooth. I was glad to see it there again when I dropped back to Barefoot Coffee for a second post swim coffee a week after my first visit.
Best coffee shop in Manly? Definitely.

Whistler Street in Manly is a little back street where all the cool, independent shops are, though you also have a big car park here and the rubbish trucks going by smell a bit. It’s between the Corso and the main road heading north out of Manly. Worth checking out and only five minute walk from either the Wharf or Manly Beach.
