Revolution @ Como – coffee shop in Como, NSW

Best coffee in Como certainly and some might even say one of the best coffee shops in Sydney. Small neighbourhood coffee shop but great coffee and lovely vibe with retro look.

The review of this coffee shop in Como NSW is designed to fit in with our current tour of New South Wales outdoor swimming pools and this coffee shop was great for a post swim coffee after a dip in the swimming enclosure at Como on the Georges River in South Sydney. There’s no book planned for now but a new website So for now take a look at our earlier books…

Crossing Paths, Crossing Borders

This 2016 publication recounts our journey from Yorkshire to Australia via 25 countries. It includes an annex with our 100 top tips for coffee or tea on the road, including this venue.

Read the full description of this book on the books page and if you like what you see you can buy it from there too..

Revolution @ Como is the relatively new kid on the bloc for coffee in this suburb of Sydney just south of the Georges River. It is revolutionised the coffee quality in Como, using the fabulous Art of Espresso roaster from way out west in Young NSW. This was one of the best coffees I have drunk in quite a while, and the first coffee shop I felt I had to review for almost two months. That’s how good Revolution in Como is.

The baristas here know their stuff too, and we had a little discussion of how I like my coffee before opting for the bean and the roast that seem best suited. Having a flat white can sometimes limit the options in some coffee shops, and I occasionally need to push to be allowed a taste of any single origin on the menu. At Revolution, though, they were enthusiastic enough about their house blend to get me to give it a go, and they were right. This was one the smoothest and nuttiest coffees I had tasted.

Combine great coffee with the friendly vibe and the wonderfully quirky decor at Revolution (1950s sofa out the back with old turntable playing 33s), a delightful little garden next to the open window, and then a more conventional space bar the bar and out the front with terrace seating. Made me wish I lived in Como.

Getting there

Wolger Street in Como has a little cluster of shops to the west of the main train line from Sutherland to Sydney. The coffee shop is about 800m from Como train station and perhaps a 20 minute walk from the Como Tidal Baths and Learner Pool. If you’re walking here after a swim, you’ll be gasping for that post swim cuppa by the time you get to Revolution..
