Tartt – coffee shop in Forster, NSW

Forster is one of those rare seaside towns where you not only have surf, sand, swimming, but also a quality coffee shop called Tartt, where they roast their own coffee & bake on-site.

The review of this coffee shop in Forster, NSW is designed to fit in with our current tour of New South Wales outdoor swimming pools and this coffee shop was great for a post swim coffee after a dip in Forster Ocean Baths in NSW. There’s no book planned for now but a new website http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au. So for now take a look at our earlier books…

Crossing Paths, Crossing Borders

This 2016 publication recounts our journey from Yorkshire to Australia via 25 countries. It includes an annex with our 100 top tips for coffee or tea on the road, including this venue.

Read the full description of this book on the books page and if you like what you see you can buy it from there too..

Best coffee in Forster by a long way. Tartt tick so many of my boxes, by roasting their own coffee – and it made for a deliciously-smooth flat white – and baking the cakes on-site. As well as that, they’re a friendly bunch working here and pretty well on top of things both on a quiet midweek morning (my first visit) and on a busy holiday weekend.

Lots of seating options, inside, on the terrace at the front, or perched on a stool watching the people of Forster go by.

Getting there

Forster is a couple of hours’ drive north of Newcastle, NSW. There are buses from Newcastle to Taree which stop in Forster, and once you’re in town, the coffee shop is at the end of the main shopping street, nearest to the bridge over the river into Tuncurry.
